Luckiest Girl Alive viewers all have the same complaint about new Netflix film

Mila Kunis is back with a new tough-to-watch Netflix drama, Luckiest Girl Alive.

The film has received a wide-ranging response from viewers, with many praising the project's realistic portrayal of victim blaming after sexual assault. However, others have come forward to share the same complaint about the movie, calling for the release to include a trigger warning at the beginning due to its hard-hitting storyline.

To recap, Luckiest Girl Alive features Mila Kunis as Ani FaNelli, "a sharp-tongued New Yorker who appears to have it all: a sought-after position at a glossy magazine, a killer wardrobe and a dream Nantucket wedding on the horizon."

But, the synopsis continues, "when the director of a crime documentary invites her to tell her side of the shocking incident that took place when she was a teenager at the prestigious Brentley School, Ani is forced to confront a dark truth that threatens to unravel her meticulously crafted life."

The film has been described as "trauma on trauma", and shows Ani dealing with PTSD triggered by a brutal gang rape and a mass shooting at her school.

While viewers have commended the film's portrayal of both PTSD and victim blaming following sexual assault, others are asking for the title to include a trigger warning ahead of various difficult scenes.

Luckiest Girl Alive is currently rated 18, with Netflix's 'About' section citing "sexual violence, violence, threat." However, viewers are calling for a more explicit "trigger warning" to be shown on screen at the beginning of the film, as well as in the synopsis.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote, "Why doesn't Luckiest Girl Alive have a trigger warning? This is too intense."

Another added, "Luckiest Girl Alive def[initely] needs a trigger warning before some of its more graphic scenes, but so far so good." Plus, a third agreed, "Mila Kunis’ new movie on Netflix Luckiest Girl Alive is SO good. But like, trigger warning for sure."

Following complaints, others have also called for the film's current synopsis to more accurately represent its hard-hitting and graphic scenes, so that viewers can be prepared before watching.
