Love Island's Shaughna Phillips splurged £25k on surgery including liposuction
Love Island star Shaughna Phillips revealed she's spent £25,000 on surgery. The 30-year-old appeared on the winter series of Love Island in 2020, where she initially found a connection with All Stars Callum Jones, before he brutally dumped her for his now ex-girlfriend Molly Smith.
Shaughna, who is now mum to daughter Lucia, suffers from a medical condition called lipoedema, which causes an abnormal build-up of fat in her legs and sometimes arms.
According to the NHS, the condition is “painful and affects daily life." She told The Sun how she’s had liposuction on her thighs and calves as well as a breast augmentation.
The star explained that she’s spent around £25,000 on procedures, with many ‘medically needed’ to help with the fat build-up caused by lipodema.
She said: “To be fair, all the liposuction that I’ve had has all been medically needed, but maybe £25,000.
"I had the liposuction on my thighs and on my calves, and I had my boobs done years ago. It is a lot of money, but this was just after Love Island so I think I almost felt like I had to have it done.
"I felt everyone was looking at me, but if I had known how painful it was, I may not have done it."
Shaughna, who shares Lucia with Billy Webb, 29, who is currently serving jail time, added that she has no plans to have any more surgery since welcoming her daughter.
She added that her opinion on cosmetic procedures has changed since having a baby, as she would rather spend money on renovating her home instead of ‘wasting it on surgery.’
The TV personality also told the publication how she turned down an opportunity to meet with Love Island producers to discuss appearing on the All Stars series alongside her ex Calum.
The father of Shaughna's daughter Lucia, Billy Webb, was arrested in a drugs raid, and last November he was sentenced to nine years in jail after admitting conspiracy to supply 4.5kg of cocaine worth at least £360,000.
Shaughna, who had no knowledge of the illegal activity, was 30-weeks pregnant when she received the news. But in a bid to ensure her daughter has a relationship with her dad, the former democratic services officer takes Lucia to visit Billy once a week in prison.
She told OK!: “It’s not a decision I made lightly and I won’t lie, the first time I took her was really scary and daunting.”
She added: “I don’t think it hit me what was happening until I got into the building. I was so nervous but it was never a question for me. I always knew I was going to take Lucia to visit her dad.
“Although it’s the last place on earth I’d hope to take a baby, I just felt like I owed it to her. Billy’s obviously missed out on a lot in her life due to his actions but I was never going to stand in the way of him being a dad.”
