Love Island's Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan skydive to raise money for charity – after getting engaged
Love Island winners Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan showed no fear when they took part in a recent skydiving challenge to raise vital funds for vulnerable children living in the UK.
The pair, who got engaged last month while on a romantic day trip, headed to Maidstone in Kent on Friday, 10 May where they embarked on the challenge which saw them jump out of a plane at 12,000 feet as part of this year’s Action for Children’s Sports Challenge.
After getting his feet back on solid ground, Kai, 25, opened up about the experience and said that despite his nerves at taking part in the challenge, he was “so happy” to have achieved the goal.
“I was so nervous leading up to the skydive – I can’t believe Sanam roped me into jumping out of a plane! Saying that, the views on the way down were amazing and I’m so happy that I challenged myself and even happier that we did it for a great cause,” said Kai.
“After witnessing the challenges some children face firsthand in our previous jobs, it was a no brainer to raise awareness and funds for Action for Children. Their mission really resonates with us.”
Meanwhile, 25 year old Sanam added that completing a skydive had been something that was on her bucket list and called the experience “incredible” even if it did give her wobbly legs.
“After landing, my legs felt like jelly but it was such an incredible experience - I can now tick a skydive off my bucket list!,” she explained.
“We’ve seen for ourselves the incredible work that Action for Children does to support vulnerable children and families. Meeting the charity’s Independent Visitors who volunteer to regularly spend their free time with a young person in care and Young Ambassadors some of whom have lived experience of being in care was a real eye-opener.”
She added: “It’s not too late to donate to our JustGiving page! We hope we can raise as much money as possible to ensure that every child can have the safe and happy childhood they deserve.”
The Love Island duo’s charity skydive comes after they got engaged, one year after meeting on the popular ITV dating show – which saw them crowned winners in March 2023.
In an exclusive chat with OK! in April, Kai and Sanam opened up about their relationship as they paid tribute to Love Island for bringing them together.
“It’s the expectation if you go on a show like Love Island, but I think it’s rare that people actually do find love. So to have the experience and find real love – I feel like we’ve won,” Kai told us.
For Sanam too, even though she entered the show to find love, she says it came as a shock when she met Kai in the villa.
I definitely went on the show with the intention of finding someone, but I didn’t know if I actually would. But to have found Kai, I’m like, ‘It actually does work, it’s unbelievable,’” she added.
