This summer has been a weird one for obvious reasons, with one of the more trivial differences being the lack of UK Love Island. But all that is (sort of) about to change, thanks to ITV2's upcoming Love Island specials.

At the beginning of May, news spread of Summer Love Island being pulled due to coronavirus. In a statement, Kevin Lygo, Director of Television at ITV, said producers had tried to come up with ways of making it work in the current climate, but that it wasn't possible to safely go ahead.

"We have tried every which way to make Love Island this summer but logistically it's just not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved and that for us is the priority," the statement read.

"In normal circumstances we would be preparing very soon to travel out to the location in Mallorca to get the villa ready but clearly that’s now out of the question. We are very sorry for fans of the show but making it safely is our prime concern and Love Island will be back stronger than ever in 2021.”

And while we've currently got Love Island: Australia to keep us occupied, ITV2 have also announced a three-day special event this week, airing in celebration of former UK series of the show.

Narrated by Iain Stirling, we've got Love Island: All the Dramz, Love Island: All the Feels and Love Island: All the Lols to look forward to for three consecutive nights, from Wednesday, July 15 (that's tomorrow!)

Each programme will revisit clips of the most iconic and buzz-worthy moments from the ITV2 show's history, including Maura Higgins giving Tom Walker that dressing down, and Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland's love story.

It might not be a new series to get your teeth stuck into, but it'll fill the gap for now.
