Love Island's Amy Hart has revealed what it's really like when the glitz of the show meets the nitty-gritty of real life, sharing some juicy behind-the-scenes gossip.

The reality TV icon, 30, who graced the villa back in 2019, has been serving up the inside scoop on the ITV2 hit series, including how the ladies deal with their periods during the two-month-long stint.

Amy's tell-all video went viral, racking up over 5 million views as she tackled the burning questions from avid fans, just as the show made its much-anticipated return to our screens this week.

Facing the camera, Amy quipped: "I've had this so many times in all the comments. I don't really understand what you think I'm going to say, like we're segregated in another room, only allowed to wear in black bikinis?"

She added with a shrug: "We just get on with it like you would do if you're on holiday."

In a candid confession, Amy revealed that she tried to outsmart her cycle by running her "pill packs together," saying: "because I didn't want to have a period while I was in there and the doctor was like, 'Yeah, that's not going to work', and I was like, 'It will, it will'.

"But eventually," she admitted, "And it did work until it didn't, which was annoying. But yeah, you just get on with it."

Her caption for the video read: "I understand everyone is different and they'd make allowances I'm sure. I was just talking about my experience and meant we weren't banished."

In a juicy behind-the-scenes reveal, another islander has spilled the beans on how contestants manage to sneak in a smoke or vape during their villa stay.

Ellie Spence, 26, who made her entrance as a bombshell last year and was paired with Jordan Odofin, shared some insider info after the duo were booted from the South African villa due to receiving the least public votes.

She recently dished that any Islanders who smoked could only step out of the villa at specific times and there would be a "fight" over who got to go.

During an Instagram Q&A, one curious fan asked Ellie: "Who smoked/vapes in the villa?"

Ellie said: "Everyone smoked or vaped. So we would all fight to go out at dinner time or lunch time. You could only really go at those times.

"I used to wake up at breakfast, I was that stressed, I was like 'let me go out for a vape!' You would have to ask and stand by the door. One day I just opened the door.

"I was so stressed and no-one was replying to me. I just opened the door and was like 'I'm going for a vape!' and they were like 'what are you doing?' over the tannoy."
