Love Island star breaks down in tears after getting engaged on camera in romantic proposal
A Love Island star has revealed the emotional moment they broke down in tears after getting engaged. Greg O’Shea, who was crowned winner of the dating show in 2019 alongside Amber Gill, announced on Thursday, 2 January that he’d got engaged to his partner Jeanni Mulder - just over one year after the pair went public with their relationship.
In a heartwarming Instagram post, Greg, 29, shared a video of the moment that he got down on one knee to pop the question. In the video the TV personality and Jeanni could be seen excitedly counting down to the New Year before Greg got down on one knee to reveal the ring as soon as the clocks struck midnight.
In response, Jeanni beamed from ear to ear as she joined Greg on the floor. The pair shared a sweet hug before bursting into tears after she said ‘yes’. Captioning the emotional clip, The 6 O'Clock Show presenter wrote: “3, 2, 1… special way to start the new year”.

Meanwhile, in an equally heartwarming post Greg shared a series of snaps of himself alongside his new fiancée as they soaked up their new chapter. In the photos, the pair beamed from ear to ear as they showed off the stunning ring. “Grew up worlds apart and now spending the rest of our lives together,” the caption read.
In response to the news, Greg’s fellow Love Island stars filled the comments section with messages of support for the happy couple. “Aaaaw congratulations,” wrote Kaz Kamwi. “Congratulations,” added Curtis Pritchard alongside a series of emojis.
Meanwhile, former Made In Chelsea star Joshua Patterson commented: “Congrats brother so happy for you both!” The Saturdays’ Una Healy added: “Congratulations to you both!”
The milestone moment comes just over two years after the pair first met in 2022. Jeanni, who is from South Africa, was travelling in Bali when she came across a group of Irish girls who encouraged her to slide into his DMs.
“The Irish girls said that they heard me on a podcast and that Jeanni should message me because we're both quote-unquote cringy. So I'm cringy according to Irish women, and Jeanni's cringy as well. She slid into my DMs,” he told EVOKE.
After sending him a message, which landed in his hidden requests section, Greg initially thought he was being catfished, though things quickly blossomed between the pair. “I obviously thought she was catfishing me at the start,” he said. “She got me on WhatsApp then, and then FaceTimed me, and then she ended up flying to Dublin.”
