Do you love crochet? You need a granny square card deck

If you love crochet, you'll love a granny square card deck. They're such a great gift for crocheters, and the perfect way to inspire your next granny square project.

A granny square card deck is a pile of cards, each with a different granny square design on it. These range from the classic granny square (like in our tutorial here) to beautiful and intricate 3D designs.

Each card comes with a photo of the granny square on the front and a stitch chart on the back. To use a granny square deck, you need an understanding of the basic crochet stitches. Brush up on your knowledge of double and treble crochet with our video tutorials.

Our favourite granny square card deck is The Granny Square Card Deck and Booklet by Claire Montgomerie, which can you can buy for £13.29.

There are so many beautiful ideas for granny square projects, including crochet cushions, crochet Afghans, book sleeves and so much more. The possibilities are endless! And with a granny square card deck, you'll never be short of ideas for granny square designs, too.

There are a couple of important things to remember when you're using your granny square deck. The first is picking your yarn colours. Most granny squares have multiple colours in them and it can be tricky to decide which colours to go for. If you're struggling, why not make a set of yarn pegs – pegs with yarn wrapped round. You can hold these against each other to easily see which colours will complement.

Choosing the placement of your granny squares can also be tricky. Even if you go for a scattered look, you don't want to end up accidentally placing all your squares in the same colour together. Try to come up with a pattern, even within an overall scattered look, to avoid this.

Happy stitching!
