Louise Thompson reveals being 'fit and in shape' helped saved her life amid tough health battle
Louise Thompson has admitted that being "fit and in shape" is one of the reasons she "survived."
Earlier this month, the Made in Chelsea star - who was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2018 and suffered a haemorrhage in 2021 after giving birth to her first child, Leo - revealed she recently had a stoma bag fitted after years of health struggles.
To update her fans on how she's doing - and to illustrate what 'health' now means to her - the 34 year old shared a throwback video from a holiday to Antigua. During the "Antiguan archives" footage, Louise was paddle boarding, "blissfully naive and totally oblivious to the chaos that was to unfold one week later."
She also reflected that it's "slightly strange to think that [her] body will never look like it does in this video again." In the caption, Louise went on to explain how she hopes the post might help someone in the future, adding that she feels like it's an "important" message to share.
The mum of one said: "What I'm about to say might sound a little conflicting… I was told that one of the reasons I survived was because I was fit and in shape. " However, she then added: "But then I've had this major urge to post this realisation that I've had over the past 2 years on and off for months now."
She explained that while she's been "extremely healthy and preaching it," she's also been "extremely unhealthy," and didn't have "the capacity to care about what [her] body looks like."
Writing that she's now realised that "weight is not necessarily a good indicator of health," Louise noted how her recent health adjustment has helped her find the right balance. She reasoned that "health is important," and she doesn't want to be known for "being 'a body' anymore."
"It's certainly not all about the abs or the butt anyway," she continued, revealing that she wants her adult life to be more "meaningful."
Instead, Louise profoundly said that it's only when we lose our health that we realise that we were incredibly lucky to have had "something pretty good in the first place."
She concluded the heartfelt video with: "I promise you the only 'good body' is a healthy body," which caused hundreds of fans to flood her comments section. All of whom commended her for her bravery and honesty.
"I'm so in awe of you Louise. You are a strong woman - the way you have managed to come through this ordeal is simply nothing less than inspiring and admirable," one person said, as a second echoed: "You're a warrior."
"Your story is just inspiring," a third penned, while a fourth added: "Keep being inspiring and helping others to talk. So proud of you."
