Take a look at Dulux's 2025 Colour of the Year
It's officially that time of year when Dulux announces its new colour of the year. This morning the well-known paint brand announced its 2025 colour of the year: 'True Joy.'
The new shade is a zingy yellow that has this engulfing feel-good feel to it, designed to make you feel energised and motivated in your own home - whether you use it sparsely or as a wrap-around colour.
Since starting the launch of the Colour of the Year back in 2004, the Dulux trend forecasting programme has continued, with leading designers, architects, editors and thought leaders from around the world coming together every year with the paint brand, to identify a colour that captures the global mood.
Beautifully capturing this year's conversations around people seeking change and a universal belief that there is more life to be lived elsewhere, this energetic hue encourages people to simply 'take the leap' in their life decisions and in their homes.
Named for its ability to bring an uplifting feel to any space, Creative Director and Colour Expert at Dulux, Marianne Shillingford shares with us what she loves about True Joy.
"You can't look at True Joy without smiling. This year, I've painted my front door with True Joy, which I do with every colour of the year we create."
"Every time you see True Joy, it will instantly give you a vitamin boost. It may be difficult to immediately picture where yellow paint could seamlessly slot into your home, but it’s actually much more versatile than you may first think."
"Developed alongside a palette of neutrals too, you can use any of our supporting colours alongside it, rather than painting a whole room with it."
Tapping into the popular dopamine decorating trend too, the buttery tone has also surged in popularity, with searches for “sunny yellow paint” being up 250% in the UK over the past year.
Good Housekeeping's Homes Editor James Cunningham also gives us his verdict on the new shade after seeing it at the Dulux launch today.
"This uplifting shade is the perfect way to project positivity into any space. I particularly like the idea of using it to highlight individual elements within a room, for example, using it to paint around window frames - to bring sunshine to your home, no matter the weather" says James.
Take a leap out of your colour comfort zone this year!
