Look Back on Dakota Fanning's Very First Red Carpet (at Age 7!) Following Her Premiere Last Night
The actress was just 7 when she walked the red carpet at the 2001 premiere of 'I Am Sam'
More than 20 years after her first red carpet, Dakota Fanning's style continues to be timeless.
The 30-year-old actress turned it out in Los Angeles on April 3 for the premiere of Ripley, her new series costarring Andrew Scott and based on the Talented Mr. Ripley films.
Fanning wore a white couture gown by Fendi, an asymmetrical one-shoulder creation featuring cascading layers of organza from the label's spring/summer 2024 collection.
Nearly 23 years prior, the young starlet went with a similar color palette for the late 2001 premiere of her first feature film, I Am Sam. At the time, a beaming Fanning walked the red carpet alongside costars Sean Penn and Michelle Pfeiffer in a sweet off-white satin dress with an empire waist, paired with white tights, black Mary Janes and a purse shaped like a present.
I Am Sam earned a young Fanning a slew of award nods, including a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role and a Critics Choice Award win for best young actor/actress.

At the Ripley premiere, the actress opened up to PEOPLE about her recent work and her latest personal milestone: turning 30 years old this past Feb. 23.
“I don't know what it is, it's just like some of the most happiest,” Fanning said of the past few weeks. “I'm sort of having to do crazy things like schedule-wise and really busy, but I'm totally fine with it. Nothing's bothering me.”
“I think I just was really focusing on being grateful for what I do have, rather than constantly ruminating on what I don't have yet," she added. "And really just focusing on the present and taking advantage of this time in my life and enjoying every moment of it."
Ripley is streaming now on Netflix.
