Lizzo is continuing her fitness journey — even while she’s on vacation.

The Grammy winner, 36, shared that “I’m taking a gap year & protecting my peace🙏🏾” — but that doesn’t mean slacking on her workouts.

“Let’s jump rope in Bali,” the “About Damn Time” singer said in a video posted to her Instagram stories, before showing a sped-up montage of herself vigorously jumping rope on a balcony.

“I keep beating my ass…I’m whooping my ass,” she said with a laugh as she worked out next to a lush tropical canopy.

Aside from being portable, "jumping rope is one of the best exercises you can do for your overall fitness," celebrity trainer Corey Calliet, who has worked with Lizzo, Khloé Kardashian, and more, tells PEOPLE. "It works your entire body — legs, core, arms — while boosting your coordination, agility, and cardio. The impact it has on your endurance and stamina is serious, and because it’s high-intensity, you’ll burn a ton of calories fast, making it perfect for fat loss and getting conditioned."

It’s all part of her ongoing commitment to fitness, which she says is due to the demands of her high-energy live shows.

"Weight loss comes with the territory, but I'm not trying to escape fatness," she said at the time. "Heavy on the 'not trying to escape fatness.' Heavy f---ing on it."

"I have a very high-performance job," she said. "For 90 minutes a night, I have to do choreography, I have to sing, I have to dance, I have to rap and I have to play the flute. And I have to emote, and hype a crowd in very tight clothes, sometimes clothes where it restricts my breathing."

"It's fun. I love my job. It takes a lot of physical endurance to do what I do, and I used to be very rockstar lifestyle, used to throw myself around on the stage," Lizzo continued.
