In London’s posh Mayfair district, a freshly updated apartment with a long history of hosting politicians, prime ministers, and aristocrats has just landed on the market for £9.5 million (or roughly $11.7 million). Most notably, it was the former home of Eleanor Percy née Grosvenor, the 4th Duchess of Northumberland.

Award-winning property developer Luxlo was tapped to spruce up the 2,334-square-foot pied-à-terre that occupies the entire second floor of a historic building on Upper Grosvenor Street. The firm modernized the interior with a Boffi kitchen, three ensuite bedrooms, and tons of striking finishes.

Some of the highlights include tall sash windows, soaring 11-foot ceilings, elaborate Georgian moldings, and marble tile flooring. Off the entry, the double reception room is decked out with a gas fireplace and features an ornate ceiling and two pendant chandeliers. Past a set of double doors is the adjoining formal dining room, which stretches an impressive 22 feet and can seat up to 10 guests at once. Down the inner hall, you’ll find a Boffi-designed kitchen that’s equipped with quartz counters, top-of-the-line Gaggenau appliances, and Eucalyptus veneer cabinets.
At the other end of the apartment sit all three bedrooms, each of which has been kitted out with a walk-in closet, underfloor heating, and integrated sound speakers. The primary suite, however, sports oak floorboards and an emperor-sized bed with a swanky velvet headboard.
The Victorian building was designed by architect Henry Harrison and built in the early 1840s by James Ponsford. The apartment originally belonged to industrialist Henry Kingscote before he handed it over to the Duchess of Northumberland in 1881. Following her passing in 1911, it was purchased by Conservative politician Lord Edward Stanley, who was known to have hosted Prime Ministers Stanley Baldwin and Neville Chamberlain. After WWII, the building was sold and converted into luxury apartments.
