This liquorice chocolate egg is the Marmite of Easter eggs, but here's why we love it
Think you hate liquorice? Think again! The luxury Danish brand Lakrids by Bülow, which is best known for its chocolate-coated liquorice, has just dropped its new Easter range and we had to try it.
The Crispy Caramel Ægg is a good place to start if you’re a liquorice sceptic. The Ægg contains sweet liquorice cubes that are coated in silky dulce chocolate and then wrapped in a crispy, light brown sugar-speckled shell. With just a pinch of flaky sea salt to balance the flavours, they’re pretty much the perfect bite.

‘I think the Passion Fruit Ægg might be my all-time favourite, as it’s the perfect balance of sharp and sweet,’ says senior cookery writer Alice. ‘I’m so happy they’re in the Easter range, and I’ll definitely be buying these instead of a traditional chocolate egg this year.’

If you’re more of a salty liquorice fan, the Crunchy Toffee Ægg might be the one for you. Covered in a creamy milk chocolate and crunchy toffee shell, they’re mightily addictive, and trust us when we say you’ll struggle to stop at just one.

And finally, if you really can’t decide, there’s a selection box containing all the Easter flavours, plus a few other core and seasonal varieties (hello, sour strawberry!). ‘I buy my Mum a selection box every Easter,’ says senior cookery writer Alice. ‘She’s not a fan of Easter eggs but absolutely loves liquorice, and anything from Lakrids by Bülow always feels like a really special treat.’
