These liquid blushers are great at brightening midlife skin
Here's the thing: with the right one, blusher can be one of the most transformative pieces of makeup in you own. Plenty of women fear they'll look like Aunt Sally, but actually, modern formulas are so easy to work with that they're practically foolproof.

The brand says the texture is a 'gel-serum', which is about right: it is cushioning and plumping on the skin, helping to make skin look healthier. It's full of great, moisture-boosting ingredients (think glycerin as well as fruit extracts) that help it sit nicely on all skin types. It lends a pretty, watercolour type finish that sheers out beautifully. An excellent all-rounder, we'd say.
Camo Liquid Blush
If you've tried E.l.f. before – a stalwart of high street beauty – you'll know its pigments pack a punch. The liquid blusher is no exception. The colour payoff is intense here, which means it'll last the day on the skin. Make sure you move quickly as you blend (it dries down fast). The shades are modern and pretty; Coral Crush looks great on all skin tones in particular.
Miracle Pure Infused Cream Blush
In Max Factor we trust. This liquid blusher is full of hydrating ingredients (think squalane and hyaluronic acid) that keeps skin looking plump and juicy. The formula is a lightweight cream that blends brilliantly with fingertips, leaving a sheer wash of colour that looks delicate. It's so easy to use and a great option for liquid blusher newbies.
Benetint
This icon was Benefit's first ever product. The poppy red hue looks quite scary in its bottle, but actually blends to a flattering rose shade. It's the most liquid-y in our edit, and dries down incredibly quickly; apply to one cheek at a time and use it sparingly (a little goes a long way). Apply it to both lips and cheeks for a smart, tonal look.
Pro Artist Luxe Liquid Blush
If you've got some finer lines around the upper cheeks and temples that you'd rather disguise, look to this blusher from No7. It throws a soft focus over these areas thanks to some lightweight silicones in the formula, which blurs rather than accentuates them. The colour it lends is quite subtle, but it can be built up without pilling for a more intense look.
Hot Shot Blush Drops
For drier skin that needs moisture at every step, Morphe's liquid blusher is an excellent option. It feels more like skincare than makeup, and its ingredients list reads like it too: there is niacinamide, glycerin and vitamins E and B inside. The finish is one that makes skin look plumper and fresher, and they're also supremely easy to blend. Lovely!
