Line of Duty's Vicky McClure shares sweet and emotional selfie with her grandad
Vicky McClure has shared a lovely selfie with her grandad, Ralph, following the duo's appearance in the documentary My Grandad's War.
Vicky and Ralph took part in the documentary to tell the story of the latter's experience of D-Day (part of the Normandy Landings) which took place during World War Two.
Captioning the picture of herself and her grandad, Vicky emotionally said: "Thank you so much for all the kind messages for #mygrandadswar , I’ll make sure Grandad Ralph see’s them 🥹 I’m extremely lucky, we all are. Lest we forget ♥️"
Fans and celebrities alike were quick to comment on the picture. Many of them shared their memories of parents or grandparents who had lived through World War Two, including experiences of soldiers who also took part in D-Day.
Prior to sharing the beautiful image of the pair, Vicky took to Instagram to share some snaps of herself and her grandad and tell fans a little bit about the documentary. On social media, she said: "‘My Grandads War’ out 9pm ITV Monday 5th June. A very special hour of TV telling my Grandad’s story as a D-Day veteran xxx"
Vicky McClure: My Grandad's War is currently available to stream on ITV after originally airing on Monday, 5 June. An official synopsis reads: "One-off special doc, with actor Vicky McClure embarking on an emotional journey with her 97-year-old grandfather Ralph to learn about his role in D-Day in June 1944."
