Line of Duty star Stephen Graham and Sherlock's Vinette Robinson are both set to star in a new TV series of Boiling Point.

The BBC One series is based on the 2021 Netflix movie of the same name and the two stars will be reprising their roles as Andy and Carly.

The five-part drama will also see Hannah Walters, Ray Panthaki, Gary Lamont, Áine Rose Daly, Taz Skylar, Daniel Larkai, Stephen McMillan, Hannah Traylen and Izuka Hoyle all returning, alongside a host of new faces.

Boiling Point picks up six months on from where the film left off and sees Sous Chef Carly as Head Chef at her own restaurant, with many of Andy's original team alongside her. As the pressure mounts to keep the restaurant full, Carly begins to feel the magnitude of responsibility that comes with running her own place.

The movie ended ambiguously after Andy was found collapsed following a huge period of stress and heavy drug and alcohol abuse, so it is unclear in what capacity his character will be involved in the series.

Boiling Point executive producers said in a statement: "We are over the moon to get the band back together, along with the creative team of Phil, James, and Matt Lewis (DOP) we have our incredible original cast back. Not only that, we are excited to introduce new members to the Boiling Point family. We are immensely grateful to the BBC for giving us this moment and we are all raring to get going on the series."

Elsewhere, there have been a lot of whispers about potentially bringing back Team AC-12 for another Line of Duty series.

The series seemingly wrapped up back in 2021, though its ending proved to be divisive among fans, but the main stars – Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar – met with creator Jed Mercurio recently to talk about a reunion.

Speaking in a new interview with GQ, Compston revealed that he, Mercurio, McClure and Dunbar met earlier last year, adding that "nothing's changed" since then and that the show hasn't been formally recommissioned.

Line of Duty is streaming on BBC iPlayer, and DVD and Blu-ray boxsets are also available to buy now.
