The limited edition Valentine's Day Jellycats are here
If you haven’t heard of Jellycats, they’re essentially the modern version of Beanie Babies, complete with their own super fans and collectibles.
The brand was launched by Thomas Gatacre 25 years ago but has really become popular on TikTok (where else?) in the past few years. The sweet plushies are meant to be aimed at children, yet the London-based brand has created such a huge range of designs that these fun, cuddly toys have become popular with people of all ages. Jellycat croissant bag anyone?
In the quirky Amuseables line (which launched in 2018), you’ll find everything from avocado on toast and fluffy footballs, to a boiled egg wearing a groom's top hat. Meanwhile, in the main collection, each toy has its own character and name, such as Ricky Rain Frog or Cooper Doodle Dog, making them fun to collect – one of the reasons they’ve become so sought-after in recent years.
But with so many smiley toys and instantly loveable characters to shop, it can be a little overwhelming trying to work out which Jellycat to buy – and which will be the best investment. The limited edition and retired models are the most valuable among collectors, and if you can get your hands on the ever-out-of-stock Peach, you're on to a winner, just FYI.
Speaking of limited edition, Jellycat has just launched a new Valentine’s collection full of cuddly red hearts, furry roses, and loved-up versions of favourites like Bartholomew Bear. We’ve included our favourites from the collection below – for your Valentine or Galentine – as well as several classics that are perfect for gifting all year-round.
Where to buy Jellycats
The brand has its own website, which is home to the entire collection of plush toys. You can also find lots of Jellycat toys as well as backpacks and keyring charms at big retailers such as Selfridges, Fenwick and Harrods to name a few. You’ll even find Jellycats on Amazon.
Some Jellycats are exclusive though and are only available in certain locations. The funky Fish & Chips plush is only available in-store at Selfridges, where the team will take your order, wrap up your Fish & Chips and even sprinkle Salt and Vinegar (the Jellycat versions) over them for you. It’s a fun, interactive event that’s incredibly popular – make sure you book so you don’t miss out!
While Jellycats are pricey (typically around £35), they’re well-built, great quality, and have a soft, luxurious feel. Really, it’s no surprise that they’re a go-to gift for many. These are our favourite Jellycats for kids (big and small) this year.
