Lily-Rose Depp is Nosferatu chic (it’s a thing) on 2025 Oscars red carpet
Nosferatu had some of the best costumes of awards season. No surprise that it’s nominated! So obviously, star Lily-Rose Depp delivered on the 2025 Oscars red carpet. The actor – who is presenting at tonight’s show – arrived wearing a see-through lace dress with a peplum detail and her hair in Old Hollywood waves.
The halter neck gown was a Chanel dress (natch, the actress was appointed as a brand ambassador for the French fashion house in 2015 when she was just 16 years old) and was constructed from semi-sheer black lace featuring delicate floral motifs and decorated with sequin embellishment at the bust, frilled pelum waist and the additional ruffle positioned at the mid-thigh. The dress was inspired by an archival look from the Parisian label’s Spring 1995 couture collection, something Lily alluded to in her beauty look with her blonde tresses styled into a deep side part and Old Hollywood waves.
In an interview with Vogue, Lily revealed the dress drew inspiration from Hollywood muses, including Marilyn Monroe and Veronica Lake, and took 515 hours to make. Whew!
Lily spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about Nosferatu earlier this year, saying, “I remember hearing that movies are supposed to make you feel something. Even if all it does is make you feel totally disgusted, then it’s done its job.” She added that when she first saw the completed movie, her reaction was, “Oh my god! It’s not just scary, it’s gross, it’s revolting. It’s palpably effective.”
“I’m interested in the darker underbelly of things,” she told the outlet. “As an actor, you hope that your role will be as meaty as can be, so you have as much to dive into as possible...because nothing is straightforwardly dark, it’s the most complicated stuff....The most exciting thing is getting to explore parts of myself. You get to hide behind all these beautiful artifices, the costumes, the story, but the place I’m drawing from is deeply personal.”
