Lily Collins has revealed that she accidentally snubbed Princess Diana when meeting her as a toddler.

The actress, 33, refused to hand her floral gift over to the late royal at an event for the Prince's Trust which she was attending with her father, the Genesis band member Phil Collins.

Speaking on the Literally! podcast, she recalled: "Legend has it, I was presenting Princess Diana with a bouquet and when she went to take it, I then tried to pull it back away, as you do, you know…

"I guess I just didn't know protocol."

Collins, who recently starred in TV show Emily In Paris, also shared that she is keen to appear in another Netflix series, The Crown.

During filming for the BBC adaptation of Les Miserables in 2018, she met Olivia Colman, who had already been cast as The Queen for the third and fourth seasons.

The star recalled: "I was a huge fan of The Crown and I was grilling her, asking her questions, but she was sworn to utmost secrecy and couldn't tell me anything."

She also told other co-stars, Erin Doherty who played Princess Anne and Josh O'Connor who played Charles, that she was "available".

Watch: Lily Collins visited podiatrist 'every week' while shooting Emily in Paris

Last month, while appearing on The Tonight Show, Collins told Jimmy Fallon that she saw a podiatrist every week during filming for Emily In Paris.

She said: "I just want to go to streets where you can wear flats, because wearing heels, I mean, you wouldn't think how painful that can be in Paris.”

Collins continued: "I actually literally went to a podiatrist every week to fix my feet because I was wearing heels all the time.

"I had to have, like, insoles made for every pair of shoes."
