Lily Allen details her misplaced resentment for Elton John after realising her 'massive mistake'

Singer-songwriter Lily Allen recently opened up about her misplaced resentment towards music legend Sir Elton John, revealing a candid letter she wrote to her former manager.

In a candid clip speaking on her podcast with Miquita Oliver, Miss Me?, Lily detailed her former management by Elton John, recalling how he would check in on her regularly, offering support during challenging times.

"He would call me once every couple of weeks to check in and say hi and make sure I was okay," Lily shared, reflecting on a period of her life where she struggled with personal challenges.

Despite Elton's genuine care and concern, Lily admitted to feeling hurt and resentful after parting ways with him, attributing her resentment to a letter she had written expressing her sadness about the situation.

"There was a big Elton-shaped hole in my life," Lily confessed, revealing how she held onto feelings of anger and frustration for years, believing that Elton had been insensitive to her vulnerability. "I thought it was mean of him actually," she added. However, a surprising discovery changed everything.

Upon moving to America, Lily stumbled upon the letter she had written to Elton, realising that she had never actually sent it. Reflecting on this revelation, Lily acknowledged her error, confessing, "I was unpacking and I found the letter. I never sent it," she said, laughing.

In a heartfelt message to Elton, Lily expressed her newfound clarity and appreciation, stating, "I love you and I no longer harbour that resentment towards you."

The singer recently revealed she had to sell her £4.2million property after she was sued by a former tour manager for an 'extremely large amount of money' and could no longer pay an existing tax bill.

Speaking on Miss Me?, the songstress said: "I had a beautiful house, which was my house of dreams in the countryside. And, I did it up so nice, and it was like my life project, I was very proud of it, it was the place where I was going to raise my children.

"And, I was always good with my tax, I'm a big firm believer in paying tax and I think people in a higher earning bracket should absolutely pay as much tax as they possibly can.

"And, that has made me unpopular in certain political circles, having this view, and being quite public about it."

She continued to detail what happened next which left her with no choice but to put her house up for sale.

Lily said: "But anyway, I have always put money aside to pay for my tax. What happened was, I got sued by somebody, for an extremely large amount of money, which I hadn't accounted for.

"I had to pay him off, with the money I had put aside for my tax. And then when my tax bill came along, I tried to work out a deal with HMRC in which I can pay them back in instalments. Which I would have been able to do, but they said no so, I had to put my house on the market."
