Lidl has become the latest supermarket to announce when it is slashing the cost of its Christmas vegetable staples to just 15p this year.

Every year, major retailers often slash the cost of festive veggies during the last week of the build-up to December 25. So far, the likes of Aldi, Sainsbury's and Asda have all confirmed their dates for the discount.

Not one to be outdone, the budget German chain has confirmed that the cost of its own veg will be reduced to 15p from Thursday, December 19. The offer will only be available until Tuesday, December 24, so you'll need to act fast.

The deal will see a variety of festive favourites on offer. This includes parsnips (500g), carrots (1kg), Brussel sprouts (500g), echallion shallots (300g), white potatoes (2kg) and also swede.

While Lidl says that its deal is market-leading, the supermarket has confirmed that it works with producers and growers on long-term agreements to ensure that prices paid to farmers are not affected.

It's not just vegetables that you can purchase for a budget price from Lidl this Christmas. Shoppers will be able to purchase a fresh turkey, a staple for many at this time of year, for just £2.95 per kg.

The supermarket has also cut the cost of two popular bottles of fizz in its Scottish stores. Shoppers across the country will find that the Organic Prosecco Rose is now £5.99, down from £7.99, while the Deluxe New Zealand Pinot Gris Gisborne has been reduced by £1.

Shoppers can also toast the festive season with the award-winning Comte de Senneval Champagne that is down from £13.99 to £9.99. Customers will also find a range of bubbly and beers on offer in their local Lidl store.

While Lidl's festive alcohol deals are available to shop in stores nationwide, it is worth noting that they are only available to Lidl Plus app users, which you will need to download for free to access.

News of the supermarket's own 15p Christmas veg prices comes just one week after rival Aldi announced the return of its 'Super Six' campaign. The dates for the price cuts will also be running from December 19 to 24 this year.
