Let’s talk about the fact that Blue Ivy has her own stylist

Most of us will never know what it’s like to have a stylist. The most we can hope for is a one-on-one personal shopping appointment in Topshop, and to be honest, we’re managing just fine dressing ourselves. For the most part, personal styling feels like one of those out-of-reach concepts reserved for only the most famous – so it shouldn’t surprise us that Blue Ivy Carter has hired one.

Yes, the daughter of Beyoncé and Jay Z has a stylist and personal shopper. As in, someone who works full-time to craft her ‘look’, deciding on designer outfits for her to wear to various social events like the Grammys, or say, the play park. She’s six. We’re sure she probably doesn’t care what happens past lunchtime, let alone if she’s wearing Gucci or Miu Miu. Did we mention she’s SIX?

The professional dresser in question is Manuel A. Mendez, reports WWD, who works at Beyoncé’s management company Parkwood Entertainment.

It’s not yet known exactly how long Mendez has been in his coveted role, but it’s thought the pair have been ‘working together’ for a while. Among his triumphs are Blue’s custom look for the Wearable Art Gala (where she tried to bid $19,000 on a piece of art, naturally), the custom white Valery Kovalska tuxedo pantsuit she wore to the 2018 Grammy Awards and the Billie Blush worn in Jay-Z’s ‘Family Feud’ music video.

Presumably, Mendez has access to the world’s top designers, all looking to dress the mega famous youngster. And it’s not like he has to worry about the budget…

At the Grammys, Blue accessorised her Valery Kovalska pant suit with a $2,675 Valentino purse. Super casual.

To add to that, Blue’s often seen wearing Gucci (a favourite designer of the six-year-old) and has worn head-to-toe looks in the past. Some of her most memorable Gucci moments include a Varsity jacket costing an estimated £1,300, a patchwork denim jacket worth £610, a floral dress worth £478 and a £1500 cat clutch which she wore to the Grammys with such sass.

Other notable looks include an $11,000 Mischka Aoki gown, and a £250 Dolce and Gabbana dress.

But Blue Ivy isn’t the only celebrity kid with a fashion professional on hand: North West, the daughter of Kim Kardashian, reportedly has one, as do Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

It’s a thing kids, take note.
