Leave it to Lady Gaga to turn clowncore high fashion
Divas, the time is nigh! Joker: Folie à Deux will shortly (as in 4 October) be landing in cinemas.
The *musical* is the second instalment in the Joker films, which explore the origin story of super villain the Joker, played by Joaquin Phoenix. Plenty of the OG cast have returned for the sequel, with an important addition: Lady Gaga has joined to play Harley Quinn, the jester-themed super villain who is romantically involved with the Joker.
With the film's impending release, Gaga has gone full ~promo mode~ and has even announced that she will be dropping a 13-song companion album to the movie. And on the red carpet at the London premiere, she proved that her commitment is sartorial too.
Gagging onlookers, she rocked a floor-grazing gown by Celine by Hedi Slimane with an asymmetrical dropped waist and a sweetheart neckline. Over the top of the dress, she wore a cropped jacket with exaggerated statement shoulders. Accessories-wise she rocked a bird brooch, chunky gold earrings and a snake bracelet.
When it came to her makeup, she stayed true to the Harley Quinn theme, sporting a choppy red bob, dark eyeliner, black nail polish, red lipstick and blue eye shadow which transformed into a glittery blue teardrop on one eye.
On the red carpet, she also opened up about the difficulties of "letting go" of her character.
"I don't really know if I did [let go] because I've made a whole record about her."
"I think the whole experience inspired me through and through," Gaga told Sky News.
"It was so amazing to get to know this character through music, through the script, through dance, through all this tremendous collaboration."
Erm, we seeeeriously cannot wait for this one to hit cinemas!
