Latest Omaze property once belonged to Elizabeth I's godson
A magnificent Grade II listed manor that once belonged to Sir John Harrington, the godson of Elizabeth I, could be yours for free.
Nestled within the village of Batheaston, the six-bedroom house dates back to the mid-1500s and retains many of its original features including an internal functioning well, a secret Georgian drawer safe, and graffiti markings from 1636.
Valued at £4 million, it's the latest property up for grabs in Million Pound House Draw by Omaze. The house comes mortgage-free, with all stamp duty and legal fees covered. The lucky winner will also receive £250,000 in cash to help with running costs and maintenance.
While the exterior has remained almost unchanged since 1712, the property is the result of a major refurbishment project. Winners can choose to keep it as their own, rent it out, or sell up.
The inside space has a Bridgerton-inspired feel, with impressive ceiling heights, wall panelling, cornicing, sash windows, a south-facing drawing room, and a charming dining room complete with a bespoke Breccia Medicea marble fireplace.
There's also a garden room with its own secret kitchen and bar, privately accessed via a sliding book cabinet.
Upstairs, the principal bedroom features an ensuite bathroom and two dressing rooms, while the second floor's guest accommodation wows with a further three double bedrooms and two bathrooms. Attention to detail is second to none.
The manicured gardens are especially magical. A stone wall maintains privacy from neighbours and beautifully stocked borders come alive in the springtime. Completing this space is a courtyard, fountain, stone orangery, and a south-facing terrace for dining.
Best of all, the prize draw is for a good cause, raising crucial funds for the British Heart Foundation. The campaign is backed by pop band S Club, who tragically lost bandmate Paul to heart issues in 2022.
'Everyone at Omaze is thrilled to be partnering with BHF again for our latest house draw. By offering this regal property in Bath, along with £250,000 in cash, Omaze gives people the chance to win a life-changing prize, whilst also raising money for charities,' says James Oakes, chief international officer at Omaze.
