While accepting her latest Grammy, Lady Gaga made a point to share an empowering message to the trans community. 'Trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love. The queer community deserves to be lifted up. Music is love. Thank you,' she said. Her peers in the audience, including Charli XCX, Beyoncé, and Billie Eilish, responded with applause and a standing ovation in support.

Gaga was accepting the trophy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance alongside Bruno Mars for their chart-topping collab, 'Die with a Smile.' Watch a clip of her speech below.

This isn’t the only time the pop star has stood up for the trans community. Last May, she publicly stood up for trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney amid online bullying. 'I feel very protective in this moment, not only of Dylan, but of the trans community who continues to lead the way with their endless grace and inspiration in the face of constant degradation, intolerance, and physical, verbal, and mental violence,' she wrote in an Instagram post at the time. She later added, 'May we all stand and honour the complexity and challenge of trans life—that we do not know, but can seek to understand and have compassion for.'

Gaga has long been an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. In her February cover interview with ELLE UK, she spoke about supporting marginalised people, especially in the midst of Donald Trump’s second presidential term.

'The main thing is I have so much compassion and love for so many people who are afraid today,' she said. 'I want to acknowledge that I’m a very blessed person, and I feel grateful for so much in my life every day. I know for a lot of people, this election was devastating for their existence, so community is going to be the number one thing. I am one of many people who support the [LGBTQ and other marginalised] communities. And we’re not going down without a fight. We will stick together. It’s going to be hard, but I’m up for it. We’re up for it. And I just want everyone to know how deeply they’re loved and not invisible.'
