Lacey Turner spoke about her new life as a mum of two children a month on from the premature birth of her son, Trilby, and revealed the inspiration behind her baby’s unusual name.

The Eastenders star explained her friend’s sister was called Trilby Fox and said, “I just thought it was so cool so I thought I’d save it in case I ever had a boy, never thinking I would.”

Although, the mum of two admitted she has to explain the name choice to people by describing it as, “Trilby, like the hat.”

In the interview on ITV’s Loose Women on Tuesday (23 March), Lacey explained that her waters broke a month early from her due date and that she hadn’t prepared for her new arrival or even gotten a hospital bag ready.

“I threw some Mini Eggs in the case and a nightie and off I went!” she told the presenters.

Thankfully, Lacey’s husband Matt Kay was allowed to be present for the birth, as Lacey admitted it would have been “really hard and horrible” to do it alone, as many mothers throughout the pandemic had.

She said that the birth itself was “really quick” but that her premature son was “tiny” and had to be whisked away to be attached to tubes. Lacey said it was this that, “frightened [her] more than anything.”

Thankfully, baby Trilby Fox is now a month old and doing well at home with his big sister Dusty, who is 18 months old.

“She’s the best babysitter I’ve ever had, she puts his dummy in, she rocks him,” said Lacey. “It’s lovely seeing them together and just how much [Dusty] loves him, it just fills your heart.”

The mum of two added that Dusty refers to baby Trilby as “bruva” in a Cockney accent joking, “I wonder where she got that from?”

The star also revealed she went back to work a week after Trilby was born to finish shooting remaining scenes in her role as Stacey Slater on Eastenders.

Lacey explained she “felt really good” after the birth, so she decided to film over a couple of mornings to get all of her work out of the way.

The family are now enjoying time at home together with walks and time in the park and Lacey added they were looking forward to be able to do more activities later in the year.
