Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn Met at Polling Station by Campaigner Dressed as Elmo

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was greeted by a campaigner dressed in an Elmo costume when he went to vote in his Islington North constituency on December 12.

The woman dressed in the Elmo costume was seen arguing with police and security before Corbyn arrived at the polling station, and carried a sign referencing Fathers 4 Justice campaigner Barry Smith.

Smith previously staged a fathers’ rights protest on a rooftop near Corbyn’s house.

The Elmo campaigner managed to shake Corbyn’s hand and stand behind him while members of the press took photos.

At one point, Elmo and the security team tussled behind Corbyn, prompting him to request that they “stop the arguments please”. Credit: Barney Davis via Storyful
