Kylie Minogue explains why she was "baffled" over Neighbours' return

Former Neighbours star Kylie Minogue has admitted she was "a little baffled" about the soap's revival.

The pop icon reprised her role as Charlene Robinson alongside on-screen husband Jason Donovan (Scott) last year when it looked like the show had been axed, though Amazon Freevee revived it just a few months later.

During an appearance on Hits Radio's Breakfast Show with Fleur East on Thursday (28 September), Minogue said she was "baffled" by the news because "everyone went to a lot of effort" for what was initially thought to be the 'last-ever' episode.

She continued: "Guy (Pearce) went to the most effort - he had like a million scenes and I felt bad that I was just kind of on and off and said two words!

"But from Margot Robbie, to all sorts of people that dialled in to pay tribute, it was a huge moment. So, when it was announced it was coming back there was a quizzical face! I haven't seen it, but all is well with the world and Neighbours should keep going."

Minogue has also teased a possible return to Ramsey Street for Charlene, saying: "Ah, well, I didn't think she would before and she did. So, I'm going to remain open to that."

Meanwhile, Guy Pearce has promised to return to the show in a guest stint to explain why his character Mike won't be sticking around after he moved back to Erinsborough with Jane Harris in the 'final episode'.

"Obviously, if I'm going to extricate myself from the show, I want to do it respectfully," he said.

Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4.30pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach.
