All you need to know about Suranne Jones' brand-new ITV drama

Suranne Jones is set to star in a brand new upcoming ITV series, and it's out sooner than you think. The Gentleman Jackactress, who is adored for her many big parts in popular TV series, will be leading the cast of Maryland – a new show which focuses on the bond between two sisters.

The Doctor Foster star is taking on the role of Becca, a mother-of-two, opposite House of the Dragon and Nurse Jackie actor Eve Best, who plays her sister, Rosaline.

Fans won't have to wait long for the drama to appear on their screens as it's due to land on ITV and ITVX in May.

As the ITV synopsis states, Maryland focuses on "the relationship between two sisters, down-to-earth mother of two Becca and disciplined high-flyer Rosaline who have been driven apart by complex family dynamics. But when the body of an older woman is discovered at sunrise on Laxey Beach in the Isle of Man, it brings devastating news for the sisters."

It continues: "Becca and Rosaline travel to the Isle of Man to repatriate the body of their mother, Mary, leaving their father Richard at home in Manchester. Confined on the island, they discover shocking information about their mother and find it impossible to escape the ripple effect of her secrets and lies."

Appearing alongside Suranne and Eve are fellow Gentleman Jack actor George Costigan and the Oscar-nominated actress Stockard Channing, perhaps best known for her roles in The West Wing,The Good Wife and Grease.

Meanwhile, Suranne's clearly got a busy few months ahead as the star also recently revealed she will soon be back on set filming the second series of popular drama, Vigil.

Season one, which also starred Rose Leslie, focused on the two detectives investigating a murder onboard HMS Vigil. The second offering, however, will not be set on a submarine but, instead, in the skies."

Following multiple unexplained fatalities at a Scottish military facility, Silva and Longacre are tasked with uncovering the cause," the synopsis reads, "Entering the hostile and closed ranks of the air force, the pair must face the deadly warfare of tomorrow as they fight for their own future."
