King Charles Returned to Royal Duties Amid Death Rumors and Cancer Treatment

King Charles is back to work following unfounded death rumors that circulated from Russian media. On Tuesday morning, Charles looked upbeat while meeting with veterans of the Korean War at Buckingham Palace. The King was photographed sitting and conversing with the war heroes — Alan Guy, Mike Mogridge, Brian Parritt, and Ron Yardley — alongside the Master of the King's Household, Vice Admiral Tony Johnstone-Burt.
After their initial gathering, Charles's sister Anne, Princess Royal, and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, held a reception for the King and his visitors at the palace to "commemorate the anniversary of “the Forgotten War."
The Royal Family Instagram account posted a carousel of images from the King's appearance on Tuesday.
"🤝 This morning, the King met veterans of the Korean War at Buckingham Palace to mark 70 years since the signing of the armistice which ended the conflict," the caption read alongside the photos that captured Charles conversing with his guests. "60,000 service personnel from across Britain and the Commonwealth saw action, with 1,100 losing their lives."

The engagement comes just hours after Buckingham Palace shut down rumors and reports of King Charles's death (which were originated by Russian media). “We are happy to confirm that The King is continuing with official and private business,” the firm said in a statement to the Russian state-run TASS news agency, per the New York Post. The initial report from Russia read, "The following announcement is made by royal communications. The King passed away unexpectedly yesterday afternoon."
Charles's cancer diagnosis was first announced on Feb. 5, and the King has continued working throughout his treatments. Later that month, Charles thanked the public for their well-wishes. “I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days,” he said in a statement shared to the family's website. "As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”
