King Charles Is "So Proud" of Kate Middleton for Sharing Her Cancer Diagnosis

Today, after Kate Middleton announced her cancer diagnosis in a personal video message, King Charles said in a statement that he is "so proud" of his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said King Charles, who is also currently fighting cancer, said he is "so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did." In a video released today, the Princess of Wales spoke about her diagnosis, the "incredibly tough couple of months" she has gone through, and the support of her family. You can watch here:

In January, the Princess of Wales and King Charles were both patients at the London Clinic at the same time, and on the day he was admitted, Charles went to visit Kate. Following their time in the hospital together, the King has "remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks."

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson added that both King Charles and Queen Camilla "will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family throughout this difficult time."

Neither Charles nor Kate has revealed what type of cancer they have, and the are unlikely to do so. When Charles's cancer was announced, the Palace said, "His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."

Following his diagnosis, King Charles also released a personal statement, saying, "I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days. As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement."
