Kim Kardashian found herself in a catty situation when planning out her 2023 Met Gala look.

Ahead of this year’s affair, the SKIMS mogul, 43, hoped to have a special date to accompany her on the red carpet: beloved Birman cat Choupette who belonged to the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, the Costume Institute’s most recent exhibit honoree.

The new episode of The Kardashians documents Kardashian's journey leading up to meeting the famous feline, who she insisted was "key" to her vision.

“Choupette is supposed to be my date for the Met [Gala]. I wanna spend some time with her, get to know and just see if we vibe,” she says in a confessional.

Given Choupette’s status, Kardashian felt the pressure to make a good impression. And, with her relationship with Lagerfeld, having his longtime companion by her side would have been “an honor” to bring his “baby.”

“Guys, is this cat gonna like me? I’m nervous. I literally feel like I'm going on a blind date,” she says before meeting Choupette, who later arrives in a Louis Vuitton cat carrier held by her agent.

Despite Kardashian’s best efforts to coo sweet compliments in Choupette’s direction, she, in turn, replied with hisses.

“I think Choupette is playing hard to get. Maybe she needs some time to warm up, you know?” Kardashian says. She even tries to gently pet Choupette, who attempts to bite her (according to the cat’s spokesperson, she does not do well with cuddling).

Ultimately, the two were “not a match.”

What did prove to work in Kardashian’s favor was the Schiaparelli haute couture gown she actually wore to the red carpet even in May — save for the few pearl beads that popped off during her car ride to the museum venue.

The designer number featured 50,000 freshwater pearls and 16,000 crystal pearls and took one dozen artisans 1,000 hours to craft.

When she arrived solo, Kardashian explained to Vogue how her meeting with Choupette went.

"It takes a little while to warm up to her. She wrote me a sweet note and left it in my room. We spent some time together before this,” she said, adding that their playdate was definitely “a little scary.”
