Kevin and Danielle Jonas Share Marriage Secret Ahead of 15th Anniversary: 'We're Still Learning Each Other' (Exclusive)
The couple, who tied the knot on Dec. 19, 2009, have had their fair share of practice in managing a happy marriage amid busy schedules
After nearly 15 years of marriage, Kevin and Danielle Jonas know a thing or two about lasting love.
Since tying the knot on Dec. 19, 2009 in Long Island, New York, Kevin, 37 and Danielle, 38, have welcomed two daughters. Amid their busy lives, the mom says her spark for her husband is just as bright as ever.
“When he's away, I tell him, 'I hate that I still love you this much,'” Danielle tells PEOPLE with a laugh during a conversation about the couple’s recent partnership with Lowe’s to help gear up for the holiday season.
“It's true though,” the Jonas Brothers musician chimes in. “And she actually gets mad at me when I come home because I travel as much as I do, and I come home for literally like a day. I'll fly in the morning and fly out that night just to see the kids and see her. And she's like, ‘This is worse because you've come in, and you've interrupted the entire thing. Now, I have to get used to you being gone and miss you again.’”
“So she's like, ‘Just stay away until you have to come home,’” he adds. “Which I'll never do.”
And for a pair that is pulled in so many directions, it’s no surprise communication is a key factor in maintaining a happy partnership.
“It's about communication,” Kevin explains. “If you really come down to it, and we are good and bad at it, we're still learning each other. 15 years, you change, right?”
“It's wanting to work at it,” Danielle adds.
Kevin agrees, “I think that's the thing — you have to not be willing to give up.”
The couple is now looking forward to a holiday season spent at home with their two kids as work obligations have come to a close for the year.
“I can just wake up and not have a plan,” Kevin says. “Not having a plan is the best plan.”

While their anniversary isn’t for a few days, Kevin tells PEOPLE that the two celebrated early with a dinner and overnight stay in New York City. Though while off on their date night, the parents of two say their daughters were eager for them to come home.
“We get texts all night, like, ‘We miss you’ [and] ‘Are you sure you can't come home?,’ Danielle shares.
Though Kevin admits, “At least they want us home.”
