Kendall Jenner is known for wearing fashion-forward looks that rarely get unnoticed, but last month one outfit in particular landed her in hot water with fans.

In December the 26-year-old model caught people's attention after wearing what was viewed as a 'controversial' black dress to her friend Lauren Perez and her partner David Waltzer's wedding.

Spliced with revealing skin-baring cut-outs, the sensual design from fashion brand Mônot's SS22 collection caused quite the stir on social media, with people deeming it 'inappropriate' for a wedding and provoking Jenner to address the negative comments.

In a post shared to Perez's Instagram account on New Year's Eve, showing a series of images from her big day attended by the likes of Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber, a troll commented: 'Inappropriate outfit at wedding @kendalljenner I'm embarrassed for you. #cringe.'

The comments section has since been turned off, but according to PEOPLE it saw Jenner subtly defending herself and tagging her friend. 'Obvi I asked for your approval in advance too we love a beach wedding [sic],' the model wrote.

Perez supported her friend and commented 'Tell em! She looked stunning and I love loved it!'

Jenner's Mônot dress, designed by designer Eli Mizrahi, was her second outfit choice on the day of the wedding. Appearing as bridesmaid to Perez, who herself wore a traditional silk taffeta dress with a bandeau neckline for her big day, Jenner donned a classic teal shift dress by Bec and Bridge for her aisle duties.

The wedding served as one of several occasions in which Jenner has opted to wear a sultry look to a big event.

For the Met Gala last year, she donned a sheer Givenchy haute couture gown embellished with jewels, which was widely talked about among fans.

Jenner's look was in stark contrast to her sister Kim Kardashian's head-to-toe black Balenciaga outfit which became the subject of endless memes.

Comparing the two sisters' looks, one person wrote on Twitter at the time: 'Glinda The good witch and a dementor.'

In 2019, the runway regular wore a risqué dress to Vanity Fair's Oscars after party. Cut with daring thigh-high slits, the dress by couture designer Rami Kadi, finished with fringing, beads and crystals, received similar attention.

Jenner's Instagram account has also shown her sporting a range of racy looks over the years, including a picture in which she's posing with her back to the camera dressed in a leather corset bodysuit and fishnet tights.

As for Jenner's love life, rumours suggesting she has already married her boyfriend Devin Booker surfaced earlier this month. The rumours came after the model shared a selfie of the pair on Instagram, taken during a rural getaway, where Booker is seen wearing a gold band on his left ring finger.

The post's accompanied caption read: 'My weekend.' The post led fans to speculate a wedding had occurred, with one writing: 'He's wearing a wedding ring?' Another commented: 'Anyone else notice the ring on his hand ?????? [sic]'

The news followed on from Jenner revealing she wanted kids 'badly... soon too', during the final season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The comment came as she reflected on. the fact she's the only one of her close siblings without children.
