It’s crazy that we’re already a few days into 2025 (anyone else still in denial?). The holidays flew by, as they always do, which also means the travels have slowed down—for now. I’ve made multiple goals to travel more this year, which means I’ll be a frequent flyer in no time, but for now, I’m happy to stay put. That’s because I spent a good chunk of my holidays in a plane, which called for my go-to AirEssentials set (duh!) and the trusty shoes Katie Holmes was just spotted in. It seems like it’s a footwear winner 30,000 feet above ground as well as on the ground.

Holmes walked around New York City, as she usually does, with two venti Starbucks drinks in hand, further proving the old adage that hey, celebs are just like us! Right? Maybe a little. I, much like Holmes, was definitely indulging in Starbucks holiday drinks, and I, much like the actress, spent the last few weeks in my trusty white sneakers. Nay, I spent pretty much all of 2024 in crisp white sneakers. But before we get to those, let’s talk about Holmes’s entire ‘fit.

7 White Sneakers Perfect for Travel

Holmes went with her usual formula that’s equal parts cool and comfy. She slipped into baggy, wide-leg jeans that are going to be around for the rest of 2025 (so don’t get sick of them just yet). She rounded out her casual coffee-running look with a blue-and-white striped top, a brown corduroy jacket, beanie, sunglasses, and big leather tote. The finishing touch? Those white court sneakers that reminded me they’re the coolest, comfiest shoes to pair with anything—even baggy jeans. Not just that, but I also feel compelled to profess my love for them because they were a travel game-changer over the last year.

White sneakers are a must for a myriad of reasons, but first and foremost is the fact that they pair well with everything. You can wear them with your airplane uniform, and keep them on when you slip into something dressier after you deplane. They’re also incredibly comfy, and when you’re running from gate to gate at the airport, the last thing you want is foot aches and pains. And lastly, if you don’t have PreCheck like I do, white trainers are still relatively easy to slip on and off.

I wear my trusty white sneakers everywhere, and I’ll continue to do so in the new year. After all, they never go out of style; they always look cool; and my feet are thankful after 10,000-plus steps in them. Below, shop some styles I’m currently eyeing.
