It's estimated that more than 5.1 BILLION people watched the Queen's funeral yesterday, more than 63% of the world's population.

It was a moving affair, with a whole day of ceremonies and processions celebrating her life and legacy - but behind the pomp, parades, marching bands and centuries of tradition broadcast across the globe is a family in mourning.

The Prince and Princess of Wales summed it up perfectly when they took to Twitter to bid Her Majesty the Queen a final farewell last night.

Prince William and Kate Middleton, both 40, shared a stunning black and white image from yesterday's State Funeral along with the simple words, 'Goodbye to a Queen, a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother.'

Yesterday the Princess of Wales paid tribute the late monarch by wearing one of her many treasured pieces of jewellery. The Four Row Japanese Pearl Choker, features a quadruple string of pearls that meet at a central curved, diamond encrusted clasp.

It was previously worn by Kates late mother-in-law, Diana Spencer, the former Princess of Wales.

But eagle-eyed Royal fans noticed that it wasn't just the Queen's older relatives who were making a subtle, sartorial nod to HRH as she was laid to rest at St. George's Chapel, Windsor. Little Princess Charlotte, 7, was spotted sporting a small diamante horse shoe brooch on her coat, and fans are convinced that that too once belonged to her great-grandmother.

In 2018 Kate revealed that her little girl had inherited the Queen's passion for horses, and it was reported that all three of the Cambridge kids, Prince George, Charlotte and Prince Louis had been learning to ride and care for ponies of their own during lockdown.

In a touching moment yesterday, the Queen's 26-year-old pony, Emma, made an appearance at Windsor Castle to say a final goodbye to her owner as the funeral cortege passed along The Great Walk.

Equestrianism definitely runs in the Windsor blood. It is an interest that has been taken up by so many members of her family. The Queen's daughter, Princess Anne, was a keen equestrian, who became the first royal to ever compete in the Olympics. Her daughter, Zara Philips, followed in her footsteps, and also had a prestigious equestrian career.

The Queen's granddaughter Lady Louise Windsor is another horse-lover in the family, and used to go out driving with her great-grandad the Duke of Edinburgh. She too honoured the Queen by wearing a necklace featuring a silhouette of a horse's head to both the vigil at Westminster Hall last week and the Queen's funeral.
