Kate Middleton Looks Festive in Green for Christmas Day at Sandringham
Christmas, Kate Middleton shared earlier this month, is one of her favorite times of year.
Her love for the holiday was evident today, as she joined the rest of the royal family to attend Christmas Day services at the Church of St Mary Magdalene near Sandringham. For the occasion, the Princess of Wales chose a festive green outfit, choosing a coat by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Kate accessorized with a green and blue check scarf.
The hat Kate wore appears to be a Gina Foster hat she previously wore in 2014 for St. Patrick's Day and in 2013 for Christmas:
Today's green coat what the Princess has previously worn on Christmas. This year, too, Kate has favored oversized bows—including the one she chose to wear at her Christmas Carol with a vibrant red Alexander McQueen coat. The bow on her fascinator was a nod to this style.
Christmas, the Princess of Wales wrote in a letter to guests at her carol service at Westminster Abbey, "is a time for celebration and joy, but it also gives us the opportunity to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all. It is when we stop and take ourselves away from the pressures of daily life, that we find the space to live our lives with an open heart, with love, kindness and forgiveness—so much of what the Christmas spirit is all about."
Reflecting on the Christmas story, she said it "encourages us to consider the experiences and feelings of others. It also reflects our own vulnerabilities and reminds us of the importance of giving and receiving empathy, as well as just how much we need each other in spite of our differences. Above all else, it encourages us to turn to love, not fear. The love that we show ourselves and the love we show others. Love that listens with empathy, love that is kind and understanding, love that is forgiving, and love that brings joy and hope."
