Kate Middleton is bringing back the Y2K extreme combover hairstyle with this surprising look
What do the 2022 Earth Shot Prize Awards in Boston, Massachusetts and my 2011 form classroom at an all girl's school in Essex all have in common? The It Girl's combover almost reaching her ear, that's what.
The Princess of Wales attended the awards night for the environmental prize, founded by her husband Prince William and national treasure David Attenborough, during the couple's visit to Boston. The star studded awards took place this weekend and Kate surprised us with her deep combover side part on the green carpet.
Kate's 2022 take is decidedly more elegant and glamorous than the ones that dominated a decade of 00s hair. Though, how could it not be given the 00s version often involved not brushing your hair for months to achieve the perfect XL matted look. Think Diana Vickers' first X-Factor audition circa 2008, then double it.
Closer to the old Hollywood take, Kate's is matched with glossy liquid brown movie star waves instead, and paired with a green dress, rented from platform luxury rental company Hurr, and emerald jewellery formerly belonging to Princess Diana.
Having tied her rental look to the environmental purpose of the evening, she and Wills took to Instagram after the event to congratulate the winners with a video, writing in the caption; "Introducing your 2022 #EarthshotPrize Winners!! The Prize celebrates groundbreaking solutions to help repair our planet and tonight we have done just that. Congratulations to all the Winners and Finalists of this year’s awards."
But of course we couldn't discuss the Y2K nostalgia of the the deep side-part without tracking down a snap of baby Kate back in 2005 with her mum, rocking the parting at the time.
Long live Y2K.
