Kate Middleton borrows Queen's pearl choker to celebrate Her Majesty's 70th wedding anniversary
The Duchess of Cambridge continued a royal style tradition last night by wearing a pearl choker which belongs to Queen Elizabeth II to commemorate Her Majesty and Prince Philip's 70th wedding anniversary at Windsor Castle.
The 35-year-old royal – who is expecting her third child with Prince William – was pictured arriving at the dinner party in a black limousine next to husband William and brother-in-law Prince Harry.
The regal four-strand pearl choker with a central diamond clasp was worn by the monarch in the 1980s and 1990s, and was commissioned using a collection of cultured pearls given to the Queen by the Japanese government (via Hello!).
The statement piece has previously been worn by Princess Diana at a banquet in the Netherlands back in 1982.
Kate teamed the striking pearl choker with a pair of Collingwood pearl and diamond earrings which had been a wedding present to the late Diana, and which Kate had previously worn in July during the state banquet for the visiting Spanish royals.
The royal looked understated in a black Diane von Furstenberg Zarita lace gown which she recently wore at a Kensington Palace gala, and before that while pregnant with Princess Charlotte in 2014.
Prince Harry's girlfriend Meghan Markle also donned a shorter version of same DVF dress while attending a red carpet event back in 2012.
The Queen and Prince Philip celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary with their four children – Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew.
Other guests were reported to include Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, the Duke of Kent and ex-King Constantine of Greece.
Markle, although reportedly in London with Harry after recently wrapping Suits, was not in attendance.
