Kate Middleton 'asked to change her name' by King Charles and Camilla
The Princess of Wales, widely known as Kate, was asked to change the spelling of her name due to a clash with King Charles and Queen Camilla. Despite being globally recognised as Kate, her real name is Catherine, which is how most members of the Royal Family, including her husband Prince William, refer to her.
However, it seems that her real name once caused a bit of a stir with her father-in-law King Charles and his wife Queen Camilla. According to Prince Harry, they even suggested she should alter the spelling of her moniker.
In his tell-all memoir Spare, Harry revealed that the King and Queen wanted Kate to spell her real name Catherine with a K instead of a C. This was because there were already two Royal cyphers with the letter C in them - and they didn't want another.
Harry wrote in his autobiography Spare: "There were already two royal cyphers with a C and a crown above: Charles and Camilla. It would be too confusing to have another. Make it Katherine with a K, they suggested. I wondered now what came of that suggestion."
Recalling the moment he and William learned of the proposal, Harry added: "I turned to Willy, gave him a look that said 'You listening to this?' His face was blank."
Despite the request not being met, it's reported that Kate shares a warm bond with both Charles and Camilla, who recognise the significant influence she can have on the monarchy.
Following the announcement that King Charles will be resuming his public duties soon, a top Royal expert has explained why this is not only good news for him and Queen Camilla, but also for other key senior royals like The Prince and Princess of Wales.
"This news will be a great relief for William to have his father not only back in health, but also in action relieving some of the pressure on the Prince to be out and about when he has his own young family and wife to take care of," former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond exclusively told OK!
Jennie adds: "As for Kate, The King's news will come as a huge relief. Not only because she has great affection for her father-in-law, but because it relieves the pressure on her and on William."
"With the King back in action, albeit not a full diary, she can feel more relaxed about a protracted absence from the public arena, and William can feel less anxious about taking time off when he needs to be with his wife and family."
