Kate Garraway reveals how the jungle made her feel sexier than ever
Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway is feeling sexier than ever since her stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! late last year and she credits her stint in the jungle with “changing” her.
In an exclusive interview in the new issue of Prima, the 52-year-old opens up about her health, ageing gracefully, family life and feeling sexy after 50.
“I used to think of health and fitness in terms of looking slim and looking good – and I know that’s not a very cool thing to say,” she admits.
“Now, I want to get really fit and toned but it’s much less to do with the way I look. The jungle changed my perspective.
“I thought if I was stronger and fitter, I could be braver and do more things. I’m much more conscious now of trying to get my cardiovascular system working better and feeling stronger so I can take on more things, rather than thinking, ‘I wish I was a size eight in jeans.’”
Kate is certain that her experience in the jungle left her feeling “quite changed” but she also left feeling “quite sexy”.
“It was a real confidence boost and very exciting to be an old married woman and have someone as gorgeous as Myles Stephenson (her fellow jungle campmate) say they fancy you,” she says.
“I think you can feel a little bit like you disappear when you get older.”
Kate lives in London with her husband, Derek Draper, and their children, Darcey, 13, and Billy, 10.
“If you’ve been married for a long time like I have, as much as Derek is so sweet and charming to me, you do get into a routine of family life.
“Getting older isn’t a reason to not feel sexy. I think whatever age you are, if you feel good in an outfit, or if you feel good generally, then it always comes across as attractive. I think being comfortable is definitely the way to go and that gives you confidence to just enjoy life.
"It’s always sexier when people look like they’re having fun, whatever their age.”
