Kate Beckinsale Shared An Emotional Selfie From A Hospital Bed
Kate Beckinsale has been through a lot lately. Earlier this year, the Fool’s Paradise star lost her stepfather Roy Battersby; now, she’s sharing photos from a hospital bed in a post thanking her mother for supporting her while she was sick.
In a new post celebrating U.K. Mother's Day, Kate slipped in a few photos of herself in the hospital. In two of the pictures, Kate can be seen sporting a large black bow while sitting teary-eyed in a hospital bed. In another, friend Nina Kate supports Kate at her bedside.
“Happy birthday and UK Mother’s Day this last week to my incredible mother,” Kate wrote in the caption. “Thank you to those that love us and support us when it’s shit and try to make sure there are some bits that aren’t. And for looking after our dogs when we can’t, and lead us to remember happy things when we can’t. And turn up when we are sick and sit with us. And send balloons and check in and pull us out of wells with love.”
In the post, Kate continued with, “happy everything mama. Your fight for joy despite also welcoming tears is the experience of watching a warrior up close. I love you.”
In additional photos, Kate’s mom Judy Loe can be seen modeling a new sweater, as well as pouring out something bubbly and posing next to a cake.
Kate didn’t address what’s going on with her health, but she has previously revealed that she has a condition called mast cell activation syndrome, which she calls “a massive daily struggle, meaning means I react to hundreds of things badly," per People.
Mast cell activation syndrome is a condition where someone has repeated episodes of the symptoms of anaphylaxis, which are allergic symptoms like hives, swelling, low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, and severe diarrhea, according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI).
This isn't the first time Kate has shared her health issues with her supportive fans. In December, she shared a slew of photos dealing with several bruises and other injuries, calling out "Instagram and reality."
Just a month earlier, she joked about her appearance after a dental surgery, showing off her swollen jaw. “Just for balance and to answer a question I am sometimes asked, ‘do you ever take a bad picture”’ may I direct you to the absolute DICK MAGNET that left the dentist surgery this morning,” she wrote in the caption.
Feel better, Kate!
