Kate Beckinsale, 50, shows strong abs, legs, and arms in new yoga video
Kate Beckinsale started her Halloween off strong with an intense yoga workout. The Pearl Harbour actress, 50, showed off her sculpted core, arms, and legs as she nailed a flow with instructor Jessica James.
In an Instagram video, the Underworld star begins her workout by pushing her legs over her torso and head, into plow pose, with her fingers interlaced behind her back. After lying back down on the mat, Kate grabbed James' ankles for support as she moved up into a bridge to work on her back flexibility. She then ended the series with a happy baby pose, grabbing each foot to stretch out her inner thighs.
'Halloween morning. Have as good a one as you can x 🎃,' Kate captioned the video. 'Goddess Kate, you are as physically flexible as you are talented and beautiful!' said one fan. 'Bend it like Beckinsale,' another commented. And she got props from still another: 'Beautiful plow pose 🙏.'
Earlier this month, Kate did another yoga workout with James, which included some hardcore partner work together:
Oh, and Kate's not the only one who gets in on the flexibility fun! Het cat also joins in on her yoga workouts:
Besides working with James, Kate also practices her flows with yoga instructor Mandy Ingber and friends. The group had a yoga session together back in August. 'I love savasana. But savasana on a puppy pile of the people I trust the most in the world is the best,' Kate captioned her post-sweat sesh pic.
Kate even credits yoga with protecting her body while she's at work. 'I haven’t been injured while doing an action movie, and I think that’s partially from practicing yoga,' she told Women's Health in 2020.
But don't just take Kate's word for it—yoga's mental and physical benefits abound. 'Most yoga classes involve flowing through a series of poses (like downward dog, tree pose, warrior pose, and cobra) that utilise your body weight as resistance,' Cedric Bryant, PhD, president and chief science officer at the American Council on Exercise, previously told Women's Health. 'The focus is on improving balance, flexibility, and the mind-body connection.'
To fuel her body well for her yoga workouts, Kate shared with WH that she likes to eat lots of protein like chicken, eggs, and salmon. And she always loads up on veggies, like her go-to salad with radishes, brussel sprouts, and safflower oil. For a salty treat, she reaches for crisps.
Keep on flexin', Kate!
