Karrueche Tran Goes Sheer in Custom Brandon Blackwood Gown at FN Achievement Awards 2023
Karrueche Tran added an edgy spin to sheer dressing at the 2023 FN Achievement Awards on Wednesday in New York, opting for a deconstructed black gown by Brandon Blackwood.
“Brandon Blackwood, he is all of this. I feel fabulous and sexy,” Tran told WWD. Her custom look from the emerging designer included a corset top, draped fabric and sheer black tights.

“I like to dress for my body type, which is why Blackwood did such a great job with this look. He knows my body type, which is small and petite,” Tran added about her tailored outfit, which she accessorized with the Brandon Blackwood Mini Metal Minaudière evening bag in stainless steel.
Tran presented Blackwood with the Launch of the Year Award. “I feel honored and proud. As friend and supporter, I’ve been a fan of his for a while,” Tran said, adding that she was thankful to “cherish and celebrate him.”
Blackwood has had a seemingly explosive year. The designer expanded his namesake label to include outwear, swimwear and shoes. In addition, the 2023 CFDA nominee has created custom looks for Serena Williams, Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé during her “Renaissance World Tour.”
“Every opportunity has been surreal. The bar has been set for us to keep delivering and it’s been an honor to make those looks,” Blackwood told WWD, adding “It’s been whirlwind after whirlwind, and I’m thankful for all of it.”
For 37 years, the annual FN Achievement Awards — often called the “Shoe Oscars” — have celebrated the style stars, best brand stories, ardent philanthropists, emerging talents and industry veterans. This year’s honorees included Sam and Libby Edelman, Gherardo Felloni for Roger Vivier and Brandon Blackwood. The 2023 event is supported by sponsors Authentic Brands Group, Birdies, Caleres, Crocs, FDRA, Nordstrom, Saucony and Vibram.
