And Just Like That's touching nod to Willie Garson in new season
This article contains spoilers for And Just Like That season two.
The second season of Max's And Just Like That finally dropped the first two episodes last night and before we deep dive into the OTT outfits (they're incredible) and the latest updates on Carrie's love life, the opening episode gave us a touching nod to Willie Garson.
Willie Garson, who played one of Carrie's best friends Stanford Blatch throughout SATC, passed away in September 2021 from pancreatic cancer.
He had filmed three episodes of season one of And Just Like That before his death. The series runner Michael Patrick King and the team of writers decided to keep the character of Stanford alive and a new storyline was written for Stanford that saw him travel to Tokyo with one of his TikTok clients for the rest of the season.
And now in season two, viewers were given a sweet status update about Stanford suggesting he is still in Japan working with his TikTok client. In the first episode 'Meet Cute' when Carrie welcomes her designer for the Met Ball into her apartment she's wearing a stunning kimono.
The designer, Smoke, the wife of Carrie's former podcast host Jackie, compliments her on the kimono, which Carrie said was a gift from Stanford.
She said: "Oh, thank you. My friend Stanford sent it to me from Japan."
Many fans of the show appreciated the nod that was given to Willie Garson, with many sharing their tributes on social media.
One person on Twitter wrote: "Loved the little mention of Stanford on the @AndJustLikeThat season premiere #AndJustLikeThat."
Another shared a gif of someone crying, adding: "Ahhhh man they brought up Stanford (he’s in Japan)."
And another simply said: "I miss Stanford."
