Julia Roberts always looks elegant and appropriate on the red carpet, but she also likes to have fun with what she wears – and her most recent look was a tongue-in-cheek tribute to her close friend George Clooney.
The actress was one of the guests at last night's prestigious Kennedy Centre Honours event at The White House, and onlookers had to do a double-take when she arrived. Roberts walked the red carpet wearing a bespoke gown that was covered in pictures of George Clooney from throughout his life and career, each surrounded by a gold frame.
The hilarious, head-turning look was custom designed for Roberts by Moschino creative director Jeremy Scott. She wore the gown paired with a cropped jacket and glittering Chopard jewellery.
Her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, shared a behind-the-scenes snap of the gown, showing the framed photographs of Clooney covering the whole dress.
Clooney was one of five honourees on the night, which celebrates those in the performing arts industry, and was also in attendance with his wife Amal Clooney.
Once she was inside the event, Roberts changed out of her Clooney-themed dress into a classic black suit.
This isn't the first time the actress has worn a statement-making design that pays homage to someone she loves.
Back in September, Roberts wore a glittering Alexander McQueen gown to promote her new film Ticket to Paradise. Her dress was customised with a sentimental nod to her husband and children with their initials, their names and the date of their wedding anniversary embroidered into the fabric.
