Julia Fox takes the cut-out trend to new extremes by completely exposing her underwear
The annual CFDA awards are a celebration of the most innovative up-and-coming designers, so trust Julia Fox to step out in one of the most daring outfits to draw attention to a lesser-known brand on the red carpet.
Fox, 32, hit the star-studded red carpet in New York on Monday in an unexpected black cut-out gown, which took the nearly naked trend to new heights,
The all-black, slinky number featured long sleeves but left a gap at the body to reveal her cleavage, midriff and toned legs beneath her skimpy underwear.
The Uncut Gems star exuded confidence as she posed up a storm in the dramatic draping gown, which seemed to fall almost like a cape at the back, leaving her two back tattoos exposed as she modelled for photographers.
The dress, including the exposed strapless bra and high-cut knickers, is the brainchild of up-and-coming Milan-based designer, Valerievi. Known for its tongue-in-cheek designs, the brand offers “powerful items designed to make a statement”.
You would think such a dress would be enough of a statement; but not if you’re Julia Fox. It wouldn’t be a full Fox look if she hadn’t committed to her subversive style from head to toe.

The actor turned heads with her wet-look silver-grey hair which was of course a societal statement, inspired by ageing itself.
“This is a love letter to getting older,” said Fox when asked about her mane and makeup. “We’re embracing getting older.”
Fox bleached her eyebrows and added a frosted shadow to her signature statement thick charcoal eye make-up. Add silver ear cuffs and a glossy pink lip and an unusual look immediately turns to a futuristic statement on the fashion climate.

Elsewhere on the CFDA red carpet, the Kardashian sisters were out in full force. Kim, Khloé and Kylie all stormed the event in figure-hugging gowns, whilst Kendall stepped out in a white slip dress, and momager Kris chose a draped Schiaparelli number.
Khloé followed Fox’s suit with a cut-out gown of her own. The bronze LaQuan Smith floor-length dress featured a gap across the body which showed off her toned midriff and exposed some underboob.
Kim opted for a latex strapless column dress, whilst Kylie dove into the fashion archives, choosing a stunning runway dress from Thierry Mugler’s autumn 1999 collection.
