John Torode returns to ITV This Morning and addresses 'controversy'
John Torode took to This Morning via video link on Monday (February 17) to address the controversy caused after his appearance on the day time favourite last week, with his cooking segment going viral.
On Monday's episode, John joined Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, who are standing in for usual hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard as both hosts are taking a swift break away from the programme.
The MasterChef judge, returned to ITV to discuss his steak cookery last week that had received thousands of views and comments since his appearance on the show.
Defending his steak skills, John stated: "I started [cooking] when I was 17 in a professional kitchen, that's like 43 years ago. I opened up in 2000 the top floor of Smiths and we had some of the most incredible steaks in London. I know what I'm talking about."

Speaking to Alison and Dermot about the clip going viral and addressing online criticism, John said: "I think we all have lots of different ways of doing things."
He remained: "I think the thing I love is that so many people have saved it, it's been saved by nearly 50,000 people. And if 50,000 cook steak on Valentine's Day and have actually made their day great, isn't that fantastic."
John also argued that fans who commented online had only seen a few seconds of a nine minute cooking segment outlining that he "did use butter at the end" putting a stop to any confusion.
This Morning fans who tuned last week, shared John's steak clip on the popular social media site TikTok, with the post receiving thousands of comments, with lots of people uneasy with how much Olive Oil was used.
One person wrote: "Way too much oil. And Olive oil should not be used at such high temperature." A second person stated: "I use butter. Not oil. It tastes 100 times better." As a third said: "Nope i use butter with a twig of rosemary and i season my steak, salt pepper & butter from the pan."
Others chimed in with further commentary, adding: "This is wrong. I can't believe he saying it on tv." Another user penned: "Wrong. Season the steak with salt a good hour when you first take it out the fridge. Then add pepper when it is resting. here John burns the pepper and will be acrid."
While lots more agreed: "Too much oil, the fat should be enough to cook it," and "I can't believe how much oil he is using, it's not needed."
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1, from 10am
