Joe Biden’s Family Does Statement Shoulder Dressing: Ashley’s Sheer Sleeves, Naomi’s Peekaboo Cape and Finnegan’s Drapes for White House State Dinner for Japan
Family members of President Joe Biden and first lady Dr. Jill Biden attended the state dinner at the White House for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife Yuko Kishida on Wednesday in Washington, D.C. The couple’s daughter, Ashely Biden, and two granddaughters, Finnegan Biden and Naomi Biden, joined the bevy of high-profile attendees.
For the formal occasion, all three women fashioned elegant dresses, each as unique as the last. President Biden and first lady Dr. Biden’s daughter Ashley wore a gown by Reem Acra, which featured a sheer bodice and long sleeves with intricate gold detailing. The skirt of the dress was a sleek black fabric. Ashley was joined by her niece, Finnegan, who wore a youthful scarlet dress with off-the-shoulder draped straps and a high slit. She paired the look with taupe-colored sandal heels.

As for Naomi Biden, the eldest Biden grandchild wore a flowing dress by Bernadette. The gown featured a soft pink hue as the backdrop for a pattern of red and white flowers extended from branches. The dress also had a cape element, which billowed as Naomi arrived to the event.
All three Biden women wore dresses that complemented their style and respected the atmosphere of the occasion. The tone for the event was set by the first lady. Dr. Biden wore a glittering Oscar de la Renta gown with sapphire ombré Art Nouveau crystal embroidery. The dress came courtesy of the fashion label’s fall 2024 collection. Other notable highlights included Hillary Clinton in a flowing caftan and Lauren Sánchez in a sultry burgundy Rasario gown from the 2024 resort collection.
President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden’s state dinner for Japan is the fifth the couple has hosted at the White House since President Biden took office in January 2021. The event included a bevy of high-profile guests, including Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, Robert De Niro and Tiffany Chen, Bill and Hillary Clinton and more.
