Summer Camp Kitchen Manager

This is a seasonal position located at Camp Bette Perot in Palestine Texas.  The Summer Camp Kitchen Manager works late May to end of July.

Job summary:

Oversees kitchen operations to serve meals for camp programs in beautiful outdoor settings!  The Kitchen Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a robust food service operation serving Girl Scout campers and staff at summer camp.  This team member serves as the primary food service leader who follows established menus, orders food, prepares and serves meals, leads staff, and manages the kitchen/dining environment, with the goal of providing nutritious, appealing, and appropriate food for approximately 225 people per meal.  This team member serves as a positive role model, cooperative teammate, and helpful problem solver. The position reports to the Deputy Camp Director.

  • 2+ years of experience in a commercial kitchen (professional food service)

  • Demonstrated ability to plan menus and manage food product orders for group meals of 100+

  • Experience preparing a wide range of foods and using a variety of cooking techniques

  • Experience accommodating diverse dietary needs

  • Highly organized

  • Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office programs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
